Self directed behaviours in primates as a response to increasing psychological or physiological stress are a well studied phenomenon. There is some evidence that these behaviours can be contagious when observed by conspecifics, but the adaptive function of this process is unclear. The ability to perceive stress in others and respond to it could be an important part of sustaining cohesiveness in social primates, but spontaneously acquiring stress related behaviours (and potentially emotional states) from all group mates via contagion could be maladaptive.

Injury or genetically induced depletion of NMNAT2 triggers axonal degeneration or defective axon growth. We have previously proposed that axonal NMNAT2 primarily promotes axon survival by maintaining low levels of its substrate NMN rather than generating NAD; however, this is still debated. NMN deamidase, a bacterial enzyme, shares NMN consuming activity with NMNAT2, but not NAD synthesizing activity, and it delays axon degeneration in primary neuronal cultures.

We want to know how many customers will be swayed by advertisement 2 over advertisement 1. In other words, what percentage of customers buys if shown advertisement 2 and doesn’t buy when shown advertisement 1? To see this in the plot above, let A stand for the event that a customer won buy when shown advertisement 1 and B for the event that a customer will buy when shown advertisement 2: P(A) = 100% 20% = 80% = 0.8 and P(B) = 45% = 0.45. We want to find P(A,B).

Exchanging to Milan provided many unique and life changing experiences, but above all, it was the people I met that really shaped my time abroad. I personally enjoyed meeting people from all around the world, every single day and being able to explore other parts of Milan and proximate parts of Europe with them. I found most other exchange students came from the US, Canada, Australia, UK and Singapore..

When she had gone, everybody was down and sad. She lit everybody life up. It was like losing a sister. The organic systems improved soil carbon levels, particularly in the manure system, and had 15 20% more water moving through the soil, resulting in reduced runoff and more groundwater recharge. [Photo: View of the farming systems trial at Rodale]Overall, Rodale found that the organic system were nearly three times more profitable than the conventional systems, and economically competitive even without a price premium. Their most profitable grain crop was organically grown wheat, and the least profitable was conventional corn.
