This may be true, but my point here is that “business casual” is not a super formal manner of dress. It may seem a lot more formal than how people dress on a college campus, but no one who works in an office setting even a tech recruiter is going to look at someone in plain, nondescript, non denim pants, leather shoes and a button up shirt or sweater and be like “wow this person went Too Far.” It a common enough way of dressing across so many companies (including clients, vendors and partners of whatever company you may work for) that it unlikely to stand out in and of itself.
